The Room Edit

Who This Service Is For:

The Room Edit is ideal for clients who want a cohesive design vision, professional sourcing support and a clear roadmap to bring one room or several rooms together with confidence.

It is best suited to clients who are happy to manage the purchasing and implementation themselves, while being guided by a thoughtful design plan, curated product selections, layout direction and a personalised shopping list.

How It Works:

  • Welcome Questionnaire and Discovery Brief: Before we begin, you will receive a welcome questionnaire to help us understand your home, lifestyle, priorities, design preferences and any practical considerations that may shape the project. This gives us a deeper insight into what you need from your home before we start developing the design direction.

  • Design Consultation: We begin with a detailed conversation about how you want to live in the room, what you need from the area, what you are naturally drawn to, and any practical requirements that need to be considered from the start. We explore the function of each room, your routines, your design preferences, your goals, and the feeling you want to create.

Whether the room is empty, partly furnished or already lived in, this step helps us shape a design direction that supports your lifestyle, your family and your sense of wellbeing. It is not only about how your home should look, but how it should work for the way you want to live every day.

  • Site Survey and Measurements: During the site survey, we visit your home to take key measurements and assess the flow, natural light, proportions, layout and architectural details of each area. Whether the home is furnished or empty, this step helps us understand the potential of the rooms, identify design opportunities and consider practical details that may not be visible from photos alone.

This allows us to create a design direction that feels thoughtful, functional and tailored to the way you want to live.

  • Mood Board: After the consultation and site survey, we create a mood board to define the overall look and feeling of the room. This captures the atmosphere, colour direction, materials, textures and visual references that will guide the design.

The mood board is not the final selection of pieces. It is the creative direction that helps us align on the feeling, style and design language of the room before moving into detailed sourcing.

  • 2D Floor Plan and Furniture Layout: Alongside the mood board, we develop the proposed floor plan and furniture layout. This helps define how the room will function, how people will move through it, and where key furniture pieces should sit.

This stage is essential because it establishes the structure of the room before individual items are selected.

  • First Design Review: We then present the mood board, layout direction and overall design approach in the first design review. This is where we align on the creative direction, flow, furniture placement and key decisions before moving into detailed sourcing and product selection.

  • Sourcing, Product Selection and Room Scheme Development: After the first design review, we begin sourcing the actual furniture, lighting, rugs, accessories, soft furnishings and decorative pieces for the room.

Each item is selected with the full room in mind, considering scale, proportion, function, materiality, investment level and how each piece contributes to the overall design.

As the sourcing develops, we bring everything together into the Room Scheme.

  • Room Scheme: The Room Scheme shows the complete design direction using the real pieces selected for each room. This is where you will see how the furniture, lighting, rugs, accessories, colours, materials and decorative details work together as a complete room, showing the actual pieces recommended for the final design.

  • Personalised Shopping List: As the Room Scheme is developed, we also begin preparing your personalised shopping list. This includes the selected pieces, estimated costs and links for ordering, giving you a clear and practical roadmap to bring the design to life.

  • Second Design Review: In the second design review, we present the developed Room Scheme, product selections and shopping list direction. This is where we review the actual pieces, make final adjustments and confirm the selections before the final documentation is produced.

  • Wall Elevations: Once the main products, layout and key design details are confirmed, we produce wall elevations for the important walls in the room.

Wall help clarify the placement of artwork, shelves, lighting, furniture, mirrors, wallpaper, joinery or decorative features, so the design can be implemented with more accuracy and intention.

  • Final Shopping List and Design Documentation: After the design has been reviewed and refined, we finalise the shopping list and design documentation so you have a clear guide to implement the room at your own pace.

  • Aftercare Support: Within two months of completing your project, you will receive up to one hour of post design support via Zoom. This is your time to ask questions, review details and feel supported as you begin bringing the design into your home.
